      -Okizu (oak-eye-zoo) comes from the Sioux language and means unity, to come together, to heal from a hurt, to make whole. The mission of Okizu is to help all members of families affected by childhood cancer to heal through peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs.-SIBS and Oncology Camp volunteers come to camp for nine days, and after two days staff training, are responsible for a group of seven to ten children, 24-hours a day for the week.-Volunteered for 4 weeks the Summer of 2018, working with both children who had experienced cancer and their siblings, after attending as an Oncology camper for 6 summers.

      -Worked in a cognitive neuroscience lab with Dr. Judith Foy looking at executive functioning and early reading development in predominately low-income classrooms in South Los Angeles.-Organized and input data collected from 2005 to 2013 through the BookWork Project.-Utilized Dr. Foy's data to focus on the relationship between Working Memory and Phoneme Awareness to both word and nonword reading measures, using both zero-order correlations and stepwise multiple regressions to analyze the data.- Leveraged my findings to confirm the importance of phoneme awareness in early reading, which had implications for interventions of at-risk early readers.
