This includes: • Programme coordination, serving as the primary point of contact for all matters related to the IB Diploma Programme. • Ensure compliance with IB standards, policies, and procedures throughout the school. • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop and refine the IB curriculum, including course offerings, assessments, and internal assessments. • Coordinate and manage the IB course selection process, student enrolment, and registration for IB examinations. • Facilitate regular communication and collaboration with the IB regional office, ensuring timely submission of required documentation and reports. In relation to student support and monitoring progress, I: • Provide guidance and support to students throughout their IB Diploma Programme journey, including course selection, subject choices, and academic planning. • Monitor student wellbeing and academic performance, identifying areas of improvement and implementing interventions when necessary. • Collaborate with teachers, families, and the Personalised Learning Coordinator to ensure appropriate support services are in place for students with specific needs. • Oversee the Extended Essay process, including topic selection, supervision, and submission requirements. • Assist students in the university and college application process, including providing information on recognition and credit policies for IB Diploma holders. Global Perspectives Teacher
-
Jan 2019 - Dec 2022
My experience in interdisciplinary teaching and learning galvanised my appointment at Adelaide Botanic HS as part of the foundational Global Perspectives team. Adelaide Botanic HS is Adelaide's first vertical school and opened to Year 8 and Year 9 students in 2019. In its formative years, I co-lead curriculum development including unit planners and interdisciplinary assessment criteria to support the faculty in designing HITS-informed learning experiences for students. As the school and team grew, I facilitated reviews of units semesterly, seeking feedback from teaching staff and students, and worked with the Coordinator to ensure that our courses were aligned with the Australian Curriculum. To further support our expanding team in the coming years, we worked together to develop our Teaching Teams Rubric based on the work of Bruce Tuckman’s Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing Model, which also functioned as a self-assessment tool for teaching teams. The outcome of this work saw the Global Perspectives Team: • strengthen team culture • normalise team and individual teacher reflection • take on opportunities to trial new pedagogies informed by HITS • develop shared practice and professional development goals • discuss student achievement regularly, including moderation. In collaboration with the Coordinator, I lead: • Curriculum development, implementation, review, and documentation • New teacher onboarding to the team • Backward-by-design curriculum • Interdisciplinary teaching and learning As a team teacher, I collaborate with teaching teams to: • Design personalised learning informed by individual student and achievement data • Moderate assessment tasks regularly • Communicate with parents/caregivers to support student success I have also mentored preservice teachers, leading to: • Proficient knowledge, assessment, and reporting of AITSL Standards • Support colleagues in providing evidence of teaching practice for Highly Accomplished status Show less

2015 - 2018
Stepping in for an absent incumbent, I worked with the NMHS IBMYP Individuals and Societies faculty in identifying inconsistencies in our practices and curriculum, which prevented us from recognising the impact we were having on student learning. With guidance from Executive, I led the team through trialling evidence-based pedagogical practices, drawing on HITS and challenge-based learning. As a teacher of Individuals and Societies, Language and Literature, and the Personal Project, I am proficient in designing teaching and learning experiences that are foregrounded by Concepts, Approaches to Teaching and Learning, and Global Contexts, developing learners who show evidence of IB Learner Profile attributes, which is central to the IB programme. At NMHS, I collaborated with Individuals and Societies teachers to develop an Action Plan template to support students in developing research skills; a personalised resource that can assist them to successfully plan and coordinate the completion of the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. A link to CAS is my experience in teaching the Personal Project to Year 10s at NMHS, motivating students to take part in Service Learning and making a positive contribution to their local community. At NMHS, using my background in TESOL, I redesigned the EAL course in collaboration with the IBMYP Coordinator to ensure alignment with IBMYP, clarifying the learning outcomes so that students had the knowledge, understanding, and skills to succeed in SACE. I worked with the SACE teachers to identify these and designed middle school curriculum using the backward design model. The outcome of this work also empowered other EAL staff to implement the course with efficacy and purpose. This work lead me to collaborate with the Literacy Leader to support all staff with resources targeted at improving literacy at all year levels and facilitated workshops and PD sessions on HITS Lesson Structure, Worked Examples, and trauma-informed Practice.
