It was my pleasure to be John's supervisor when he worked as an IT Manager with the College of Business and ITAPP. His leadership and communication were outstanding, and his IT skills are second to none. John naturally understands that IT professionals also have to be customer relationship managers, so information technology plans and objectives are successfully linked to the overall strategic direction of an organization. I miss working with John, and I know that his talent and good character will take him far in his chosen field.

My first real job, where I began learning to be technology generalist. I started as a technician troubleshooting basic computer problems, then moved on to building and upgrading computers, then learned about Novell and Microsoft networks. The company evolved into an Internet service provider, which then put me in a whole new area of IT. My job came to include maintaining e-mail servers and web sites and servers, as well as banks of modems and authentication system. My job came to include maintaining e-mail servers and web sites and servers, as well as banks of modems and authentication system. I also had to work the occasional overnight tech support shift. Perhaps most importantly, I learned volumes about how to run a small business--skills that would be applied when I launched my own business after GulfNet closed its doors.
