Seven investors have joined forces to establish Olavsvern Group AS and will handle increased petroleum activity in the Barents Sea and the northern Norwegian Sea.   Ankomstsenter Finnmark har kapasitet til å innkvartere og forpleie 600 asylsøkere. Politiet foretar registrering av alle asylsøkere som kommer over Storskog fra Russland og sørger for at alle blir fraktet fra grensa til ankomstsenteret. I løpet av de to til tre dagene asylsøkerne befinner seg i ankomstsenteret, vil det bli gjennomført en tuberkuloseundersøkelse på sykehuset. Sør-Varanger kommune kommer til å ha en akutthelsetjeneste i senteret. Asylsøkerne får utdelt klær og sengetøy. Klær og bagasje som de har med, skal fryses for å hindre at eventuelle veggdyr sprer seg. Søkerne vil også få informasjon om asylprosessen og hvilke rettigheter en asylsøker har i Norge. Etter oppholdet ved ankomstsenteret vil asylsøkerne bli sendt videre til andre mottak i Norge. Vestleiren har overnattingskapasitet for opptil 600 personer. Det er satt opp flere brakkerigger som sørger for denne kapasiteten. UDI har valgt Hero Norge AS som driftsoperatør for Ankomstsenter Finnmark.
