I worked with Kevin for years at the Seattle Weekly. He was definitely one of our best photographers. He was always very professional and willing to shoot any assignment we needed. I could always count on him to bring in great work and on time. The Weekly won some awards thanks to his great photography. He is also a very nice person, always friendly and a pleasure to work with. He would be a great addition to any team or for freelance work.

Kevin Casey is a talented, hard-working photographer who puts in the extra-effort to make his photographs stand out from the ordinary. As an intern at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, he made quantum leaps in the way he photographed and the way he approached an assignment. Kevin was getting direction and feedback from other experienced photographers on staff as well as myself and took everything that was said to heart. He would listen, then apply what he learned on his next photographic assignment.

In my work, I’ve continually leveraged a blend of artistic and technical skills to produce photography and videography for commercial and press use. I’ve created imagery to accompany and tell stories, demonstrating skills in visual narrative. In addition, I’ve utilized photo editing abilities to enhance images and achieve desired results. I’ve worked directly with publications and clients, scheduling times, locations, and shoot requirements. I’ve maintained an efficient workflow, meeting tight deadlines, budget guidelines and remaining flexible for urgent assignments. In addition, I have managed contracts, releases, permissions, vendors as well as additional freelance staff to handle larger projects. Show less

The Knight Fellowship is an extraordinary opportunity for a mid-career professional to earn a masters degree from the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University. Returning to Ohio University to where I began my photojournalism career reignites my passion for this field. Working on my Masters Thesis Project will help me develop new skills and pivot in some new directions. Working alongside award-winning VisCom students through teaching and mentorship will be a key component in my experience at Ohio University. Show less
