Vecinos is a free-clinic, non-profit organization located in Cullowhee, North Carolina dedicated to serving farmworkers and their families in the seven western-most counties of state.I first joined Vecinos in January 2020 as an intern providing medical interpretation during their weekly clinic nights. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my internship was cut short in March 2020. I returned to Vecinos later that year in July as a part-time COVID Community Health Worker (CHW) dedicated to providing health education on the coronavirus, coordinating free COVID-19 testing community events across the seven counties, and collaborating with other organizations in providing resources to the communities harmed by the pandemic. When vaccines became widely available neighborhood outreach (door-to-door) became a key focus point to educate our communities and encourage them to get vaccinated. Throughout 2021 we hosted several mass vaccinations sites, door-to-door vaccinations and community events. In part to our work, Vecinos has been able to administer over 9,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. In April 2021, I became a full-time employee as a Marketing Assistant while assisting in the CHW role. During this time, I took control of website and social media management. One key goal was to increase our social media presence and engagement. Through creating original content across platforms, highlighting our work, story-telling, and promoting community events - our social media accounts gained followers and our engagement increased. In November 2021, I transitioned into the Communications & Logistics Coordinator role for the Community Health Program under Vecinos. In this role, I was dedicated to continue marketing the organization on social media and other communication platforms - as well creating an effective communications strategy, including the implementation of new communications methods for the program while continuing to serve in some capacitations as CHW.

Hola Carolina is a non-profit organization and Spanish language media outlet based in Hendersonville, NC. As the only Spanish media in western NC (WNC), it was important to bring content in Spanish to the Latino communities of WNC. During my time as a journalist and photographer, I covered stories on immigration, politics, breaking local news, the COVID-19 pandemic, and weather. Some of the more important articles covered including domestic violence, the death of a Latino at a construction job, the rise in COVID-19 related deaths and the inauguration of President Joe Biden. I was able to travel to Washington DC to cover the presidential inauguration just two weeks after the Capitol Building had been attacked by domestic extremists.

I started working for Walmart in June 2017 and left in August 2018 to focus on my education as it was my first year at WCU. I started working for Walmart once more in June 2019 where I continue to be employed. Walmart has been a great company to work for with great management that are flexible and understanding with my educational goals and commitments. Working for Drake Software was a great learning experience as most of my customer service experience had primarily been face-to-face interactions. I would've loved to stayed with the company unfortunately, at the time, I needed a more flexible position. I highly recommend working here.
