I am a researcher in the machine learning group at MDA. I apply modern machine learning techniques (Deep Neural Networks and Reinforcement Learning) to problems within Geo-intelligence (e.g., remote sensing), Space, and Command & Control. As one of the organizing members of the MDA's AIX Lab, our internal AI research group, I am also responsible for the development of the AI Roadmap within MDA's R&D. As a supervisor and a team lead, I have the privilege to mentor and guide junior members of the team, and facilitate the internal AI training at MDA. Currently, I am exploring applications of causal models within the RL framework with the aim of developing more efficient and robust algorithms for mission-critical applications. Show less

In this role, I designed optical imaging instruments for the measurement of cold-flow properties of petroleum liquids (i.e., oil and gas). I was also involved in developing machine vision algorithms for the analysis of videos/images. My work involved applying Terahertz Time-domain Spectroscopy to various applied and industrial problems. Some examples are composition analysis of flat samples (such as paper, plastics, and nanowires grown on substrates), and terahertz imaging of stress fields in composites.
