I was appointed to lead the IT department to fulfill the Association’s information systems requirements and manage the overall performance of the networks. My role also included managing third-party IT service providers (telephony, print services, software support, cloud). In the role, I achieved savings of £20k pa in telephony costs by renegotiation of a major contract and avoided over £30k pa in printing costs after analysis of current use. - Procured hardware, software & services. - Installed, configured & provided support for Windows Server (Active Directory/Group - Policy/Scripts/ Backup), server software (Exchange/SQL Server).and infrastructure (network, firewall, phones/VOIP, Audio/Visual). - Provided support & advice to end users located in HO & remote offices. - Specified changes to SQL database application for implementation by external suppliers. - Developed budgets, operating procedures & documentation. - Implemented & customised new CRM with links to website. - Led project to install Mitel VoIP telephone system to replace obsolete kit. - Introduced VPN, Remote Desktop & “Bring Your Own Device” to facilitate remote working. - Developed macros & scripts to automate repetitive processes. - Improved security by refining user rights to change configurations & access data. - Worked towards the DMA achieving “DataSeal” (a cut-down version of BS27001). - Provided advice & tools to secure transfer of personal data to/from DMA partner organisations. - “Swing migration” rebuild of servers using virtualisation to avoid interruption to service.

I managed 2 IT support staff, a programmer analyst and up to 3 full time IT contractors. - Provided strategic-level advice to the Managing Director on IT & emerging technology. - Developed IT plans, operating procedures & budgets. - Co-ordinated provision of IT support, systems development & desktop support. - Direct negotiation of support contracts with suppliers and co-ordinated vendor issues. - Ensured the documentation & compliance of IT systems / procedures with ISO 9000. - Led provision of new IT equipment for a new 100+ seat office facility. - Supported installation of IT for roll-out of new branches in the network. - Specified and deployed improvements to PoS system to support corporate growth plans. - Introduced VPN remote access networks to facilitate IT access for remote staff. - Standardised build of file servers to improve reliability performance & reduce downtime. - Managed migration from Novell NetWare to Windows 2000/2003 technology. - Led upgrade of HO & PoS PCs from NT to 2000/XP as part of IT refresh initiative. - Introduced remote control software for PCs to allow rapid problem solving & to cut costs.
