Craig Wilson
For three years, I was lucky enough to have Ruchir as my direct manager. Ruchir has a unique ability to remain calm, under the most pressing circumstances, and reacts to challenges with careful consideration - always prepared to bring in the thoughts of others. Always willing to encourage colleagues on, Ruchir is a fine mentor and brings the best out in others.

I have worked with Ruchir in a number of capacities and find his counsel incredible insightful and considered. Ruchir has an incredible wealth of experience in not only the charity sector but wider civil society. He is a passionate advocate for positive change in Scotland, the UK and beyond and is excellent at championing a cause and bring others along with him. During my time at SCVO I always found Ruchir to be a listener first, a unique skill in today's world, then offer extremely thoughtful insight that was valuable to my work and that of the organisation. His calm, thoughtful and considered approach coupled with his unparalleled experience at the heart of policy in Scotland's third sector marks Ruchir out amongst peers. After leaving SCVO and then subsequently joining SCVO's policy committee it was a pleasure to work with him again and share in his knowledge and insight of Scotland's third sector.

The Open Government Pioneers Project has been set up to build the capacity of citizens and civil society across the United Kingdom to contribute and input to policy-making and service delivery in progressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), in partnership with the Wales Council for Voluntary Organisations (WCVA), Involve, and Northern Ireland Environment Link, has been awarded a £500k Big Lottery Fund grant to work together over two years to support people to engage and challenge their governments to serve them better. There will be a particular focus in supporting people who are not normally heard in the decisions that affect them, and the connection between citizens and devolved governments of the UK home nations. The project is formally linked to the international Open Government Partnership, where governments and civil society have been given an equal say in the commitments made by 70 countries to be more open. It will use open government commitments to help people secure progress towards the SDGs to eradicate poverty, tackle inequality and sustain natural resources at home and abroad. http://www.opengovernment.org.uk/about/open-government-pioneers-project/
