I've had the pleasure of working with Joe for over nine years at Immersion Active. Joe has played every role to me: boss, teammate, mentor and good friend. Most of the skills and techniques that I use today came from working with him. When I started at Immersion Active, I was green. Joe taught me all things marketing: performance-based digital strategies, data driven planning, marketing automation, database marketing, voice of the customer analysis, paid media planning/optimization and the list goes on. Throughout it all, Joe had all the things you'd want in a teacher. He was patient and understanding, gave you room to grow and pushed you to try new things. Joe's entrepreneurial approach to our business promoted agility, testing and learning at our agency. We moved quickly, saw results and grew together as a team. As an employee, this was always so satisfying. I was encouraged to bring new ideas, experiment, fail fast (as we called it) and optimize in the right direction. This kind of environment enable Immersion to offer unique solutions to our partners and clients. Beyond Joe's leadership skills, he's an extremely valuable collaborator and worker bee. He can get into the weeds and work along side the best of them: ranging from data analysis, paid media planning, content writing, etc. When working together as teammates, Joe challenged me to prioritize the end user in our strategies. He helped us think though the needs of our target audience from a core values perspective, which always resulted in a top performing campaign. Joe taught me that marketing is a balance of art and science. As you can see, I've learned a lot from Joe. I'm grateful for all that he's done for me and I look forward to an opportunity to work together again.

I worked with Joe for a few years before I reported to him when he became our president and senior digital strategist at Immersion Active. Before I got into advertising, I found Joe to be a fun coworker who was always delving deeper in to the subject of data and analytics. He got our company started along that path and it transformed the way we did business. He helped me enter the world of Facebook advertising and essentially gave me my training when the platform was like the wild west - messy, dangerous, and with poor documentation! ;-) As a boss, I found him to be a very caring person who would check in on people who were having a rough time. He tried his best to put people in a place where they would excel and feel like they can contribute and accomplish goals. He never lost his love of data - his desk always had a stack of ever changing books he was going through. As a friend, Joe has a wicked sense of humor and would participate in friendly pranks in our office, and I managed to get him good once or twice (and we had a good laugh about it). He fostered a friendly culture at Immersion and I think we all were better off because of this. :-)
