• Analyzing audio- and video-recordings of 4-7 year old children’s interactions as they engage in various play contexts • Examining the writing/drawing that arises from the play • Assisting in writing papers for publication including topics such as drawing/writing, as well as the benefits of action research. This research is being conducted in collaboration with U of T Professors, and is part of a grand scale research project. Data for this study will be gathered by early childhood educators and teachers in K-2 classrooms, daycares and Aboriginal Head Start programs in northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Results of the analysis will be used to guide action research, where teachers, early childhood educators and university researchers work together to find ways to support Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children’s oral language and writing development.
