Collected data for a long-term research project in South Africa studying thermoregulation in vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus pygerythrus). In addition to collecting baseline behavioural scan data, I was also responsible for importing and cleaning the data. Additionally, I collected environmental data (i.e. vegetation, phenology, weather) for a variety of PhD projects. I also trained new research assistants. Conducted fieldwork on banteng (a type of wild buffalo) in the Bornean rainforest as part of an international team. We surveyed several forests for banteng presence and activity by analysing images from motion-triggered cameras. At the end of five months I was conversationally fluent in Malay, which I learned from the two Malaysian field assistants working on the project. Conducted a research project on the energetics of Brent geese (Branta bernicla bernicla) before migration. This included four months of fieldwork on Terschelling (a Dutch Wadden Sea island) where I monitored the behaviour of the geese and the growth rate of their food source (grass).
