Bio
Cheryl Wheeler, M.A.
I met Julie when I began working at the University of Washington in 2005 and have worked with her since then in a variety of curriculum and instruction-related roles. Julie is one of the very best curriculum developers I have worked with at the UW. Julie's years of excellent work in our department made a huge impact on the quality of instruction for the programs I managed. I currently evaluate most curriculum projects I receive against Julie's gold standard of organization and clarity. She is also a very thoughtful, well-respected teacher and a pleasure to work with--communicative, adaptable, professional, responsible and always approachable. Although Julie is now in a different unit within our organization, I look forward to working with her again whenever additional collaboration is possible.

I have worked closely with Julie on many projects in the last four years. In addition to teaching together, we have also collaborated on designing curricula in our department. As an instructor, Julie is student-centered, inventive, and fun. She brings these same qualities to her work as a curriculum developer. At every stage of the development process, Julie considers the needs and abilities of her learner. Julie’s curiosity infuses her design work. She’s always finding and learning new tools that might serve her learners. What brings everything together is her grounding in research and her sense of fun. This ensures that her deliverables are both meaningful and memorable. And finally, Julie is simply a joy to work with: unflappable, warm, and funny.
