I had the chance to do research on compliance changes in the various states that we had stores, research on law changes, and payroll issues. I had the privilege to process all medical claims that came through our office and handle negotiating down of medical bills to provide employees and Villages with a reduction in expenditures for the cost of all things medical. I also was responsible to make sure that all individuals that submitted claims to our department received a reimbursement check in a timely manner (most often claims were processed within a week of when they submitted for processing). I worked with a team of three to process payroll on a bi-weekly basis utilizing excel and our timekeeping software to make sure that every employee received their pay for hours worked. I also had the opportunity to make lasting connections with not only corporate employees but the staff at the various stores throughout the US. I made these connections by following up with questions in a timely manner (normally within 24 hours). My role as the HR Assistant was an excellent proving ground and gave me, excellent experiences and broadened my knowledge on HR compliance, HR laws, and how to manage juggling various priorities. Major Contributions: * Payroll Processing * Medical Processing * Compliance and Law Research Show less
