As the student pastor, I am responsible for planning and coordinating all activities related to our church’s youth ministry for students in grades 7 through 12. General Manager
-
Sep 2008 - Feb 2014
Upon my return to the company, my primary duties included cost estimation and project management for water feature and irrigation pump station projects. As the company grew, I began to take on additional responsibilities related to the daily operations of the business. Ultimately, I was placed in charge of the day to day operations of the company, overseeing a staff of over 20 employees. As the company continued to grow, my role transitioned to focus solely on preconstruction activities, including the company’s sales efforts and business development operations. In this area, I was regularly involved with projects ranging from $5,000.00 to over $3,000,000.00, and estimated projects valued in excess of $25,000,000.00. I was still heavily involved with all aspects of the business, including contract negotiation, and I worked closely with personnel in the design, manufacturing, construction, and maintenance operations. During my tenure with the company, annual revenue rose from approximately $1,800,000.00 to nearly $6,000,000.00, with net profit percentage increasing during that time frame as well. I worked closely with subcontractors to maintain those relationships and to recruit other qualified and skilled subcontractors that were capable of completing the complex projects that the company was involved in. I stayed in contact with clients throughout the project to make sure their requests were met and that the guarantees that were made had been fulfilled. I was also responsible for implementing On Screen Takeoff and ProContractor MX, a fully integrated enterprise construction suite, and I constantly pushed the company to take advantage of new technologies. During the entire course of my employment, I worked with the ownership to develop policies and procedures that enabled the company to operate more efficiently and profitably. Show less

My primary responsibilities were cost estimating for commercial landscape and irrigation projects ranging from $25,000.00 to over $3,000,000.00. I worked diligently to compile and evaluate accurate quantity takeoffs, vendor pricing requests, and subcontractor proposals, as well as coordinate the completion of any required bid documents. I managed the estimating calendar, and coordinated with other employees in the commercial division, including operations managers, project managers, purchasers, and financial personnel. I utilized multiple computer programs to carry out my work, including On Screen Takeoff and a proprietary enterprise software system developed specifically for the company. I was also responsible for assisting in the recruiting of new subcontractors, and negotiating commercial contracts. I was extensively involved in helping to estimate and negotiate the company’s largest landscape project to date. Show less

Irrigation Designer
-
Jan 2007 - Sep 2007
Originally hired to work as an irrigation designer, I quickly progressed to assist with landscape design, as well as water feature mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design. I was responsible for coordinating the design requirements with owner requests, as well as the requests of multiple other design consultants. I used AutoCAD on a daily basis for design work, and I also used the Microsoft Office Suite extensively to compile reports and other documents. I also assisted with cost estimating of water feature and pump projects. Show less
