It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this recommendation for Ms. Emily Conte. I am a Professor and the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Student Affairs in Higher Education and School Counseling Programs in the Counseling Department at Montclair State University. Emily worked as a program associate to the graduate program coordinators in our department from March 2019 to June 2020. With the budget cuts at our university, we were unfortunately unable to renew her contract. The loss of her as a colleague is still acutely felt by the department faculty, staff, and students. Not a day goes by that we don’t miss her excellence or her personality. She’s irreplaceable. Emily managed all tasks within the department related to prospective students. In fact, she was so good at this that our student enrollment grew considerably under her watch. She provided academic advisement to new students providing assistance with registration, course work, and program expectations; when she couldn’t provide an answer, she would either get the answer or connect students to resources they needed. Emily was responsible for tracking student data related to admissions, enrollment, matriculation, and recruitment. Emily is digitally savvy and has a good understanding of how to use social media in educational endeavors - She was in charge of our social media presence and maintained connections with current, prospective, and alumni students. She coordinated all program events related to prospective students and new students, including orientations, open houses and information sessions. There was no task too big or too small for Emily to take on; she conceptualized major changes and she took meticulous meeting minutes. In sum, Emily kept not only the program organized but also made the program run better than it has ever before. To complement all of her hands-on skills, Emily has been a Professional Counseling graduate student at Seton Hall University. In addition to the content she has learned in the program, she has turned her interpersonal
