In 2012, after having realized that a large part of the creative persons from Oporto was working from home and had great difficulty in finding points of sale or of exhibition for their works, I decided to establish CRU Creative Hub, in the artistic block of the city of Oporto. It is a place of collaboration, sharing, and creation.CRU is a creative hub that combines a coworking space focused on creative activities, an art gallery, workshops, and a designers' shop, in it's 400sq meters. More than 40 creatives work daily at our space, and our community exceeds 250 people. Most of them are freelancers and solopreneurs in the Cultural and Creative Industries field. Our mission is to provide the best conditions to maintain this community active, thriving and international while enhancing the individual potential of each one of our freelancers or startups founders. For that, we offer spaces and services at bearable costs, in an environment that is appropriate for artistic creation, productivity, networking, collaborations, and ultimately, contributes to the well-being and friendships among coworkers. Today, CRU is a reference spot that joins a community of established and emergent creative people in the city.

The European Creative Hubs Network is a peer-led network with a mission to enhance the creative, economic and social impact of hubs.As focal points for creative businesses, hubs offer the most effective way to support the growth and development of creative industries. To achieve this, hubs themselves need to network, to pool resources, share best practices, and build on advocacy, policy and opportunities. It is clear that the European Creative Hubs Network offers the best route to support hubs, and hence Europe’s creative industries.
