I helped facilitate the geospatial aspect of this crop dusting company's business model which focused on providing farmers with actionable information regarding their nitrogen fertilization requirements for corn and soybean crops. The goal was to reduce runoff and the financial expense of fertilization by only spraying aerial application where it was needed, on less healthy crops. A large-format pushbroom sensor was used to acquire data during critical growth periods. The imagery was classified using vegetation indices and vectorized to create online datasets. Farmers were able to view the data and quickly take action during these critical growth periods. I was mostly engaged with the following: • Large-format multispectral sensor installation and operation (Leica ADS80). • Mission planning. • Imagery aerial triangulation and photogrammetry. • Image product creation. • Image classification using spectral reflectance and vegetation indices. • Data delivery for crop dusting aerial applicators. • Image service creation. • Web app development.
