In 2007, I served as a member of Candace Stoakley’s M.S. committee at Illinois Institute of Technology. I was also her instructor in a graduate course about management of publication projects. In the course, Candace tapped her work experience for strategies to keep group projects on track. She showed a strong ability to work with others to get things done. I was equally impressed with the goal of her master’s project. She developed exam questions for Motorola’s field technician engineers. The research- and theory-driven questions supported Motorola’s customer certification program. Candace’s strength in my mind is that she is both pragmatic and academically inclined.
