Payroll Supervisor (full-time) - my first four months with HEB have been awesome. I have been given the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities of supervising a team of two & will be transitioning into this role over the next two months. I look forward to expanding my experiences. Payroll Specialist (contract) - As I moved into this role at the beginning of a new year, not only was there a need for me to learn two brand new systems that I had never worked on before, but also prepare for the prior year-end closure. It was a whirlwind crash course on systems and company policies and procedures. I went in with eyes wide open and completely enjoyed the experience and the rush of keeping employees paid while understanding the company and the new system requirements (Great Plains & Penny). The payroll tasks in general are the same where ever one works. Preparing & processing a biweekly internal payroll, which includes input of hires, changes and exiting of employees along with producing the ROE. Completing year-end slips & summaries for submission to CRA. Giving guidance and advice to employees and managers when questions or changes are brought forward. Show less

With the Bayer/Monsanto merger finalized, I am stepping into a transition period of legacy Monsanto & Bayer duties. While still running regular legacy Monsanto biweekly payrolls, assisting managers & employees with daily concerns, I am also working with the Bayer Canada HR team in transitioning legacy Monsanto employees to Bayer. This is an exciting opportunity to be able to take employees through the transition as seamlessly as possible so they can continue to do their work without worry about pay or benefits. Show less

This 18 month term role is allowing me to give back to the company where my career started. Assisting with 3 Canadian payrolls of various sizes with unions while the HR/Payroll department reviews procedures and protocols. The next year and half will be an exciting time as the department remolds itself and prepares for the future! With the sale of Legumex Walker Canada Inc's assets and the amalgamation of the remaining Legumex Walker companies into LWP Capital Inc for liquidation and closure, my role as payroll & benefits specialist shifted to include general office administration. My major responsibility is still to continue and finalize the small Canada payroll. I have also been given the opportunity to finalize the U.S. payroll along with closing accounts for both the Canada and U.S. various benefits and government agencies. Working in conjunction with the liquidators in seeing that all invoices are accurate and paid in a timely manner. The preparation of the general office for closure included the packing of all files for shipment to Iron Mountain, arranging for final cleaning and walk through with landlord and contacting general office services to close accounts and schedule final pick ups of equipment. Updating courier and stationary services that would remain active until final closure, with new name and contact information. Both the payroll and office closure requirements has been a great experience in understanding how the difference in the type of sale of a company can have on general contracts and agreements.
