Project Manager

Jan 2018 - May 2019
As a Project Manager for Sustainable Conservation, my time was split between the PlantRight Initiative and the Central Coast Water Team.On the Central Coast Water Team, I developed an irrigation efficiency metric calculator and user guidance for speciality crop growers, which was adopted into the suite of metrics offered by the national Stewardship Index for Specialty Crops, or SISC. I also helped the team to refine their strategy for promoting performance metrics, conducted research, and provided support for multi-level projects with specialty crop growers on the Central Coast of California, corporate partners, supply chain processors, SISC, regional government agencies, and other organizations. For the PlantRight Initiative, I was the database manager for the Plant Risk Evaluator (PRE) tool and served as the primary liaison between users and web developer. I also represented PlantRight on the Public Gardens as Sentinels against Invasive Plants (PGSIP) group, a national committee of botanical gardens focusing on preventing plants within garden exhibits from escaping cultivation. As a Project Associate for Sustainable Conservation, I worked on the PlantRight team, an initiative that promotes noninvasive plants for California and works to prevent the sale of invasive horticultural plants. My time was initially focused on conducting outreach to independent nurseries for PlantRight’s Retail Nursery Partnership program. After spending several months learning from independent nurseries, I developed an alternative strategy of engaging wholesale plant growers, those supplying nurseries with invasive plants.I also co-managed a Farm Bill grant project, focusing on national deployment of an online tool known as PRE, or Plant Risk Evaluator. PRE is an online, collaborative tool and database that predicts a horticultural plant’s invasive risk in a given region. Additionally, I developed and managed online user guidance for PRE. Show less
