Curriculum Vice Principal at Sha Tin College, a co-educational International School inSha Tin, Hong Kong. This is a high achieving school where parents have very high expectations for their children. My role was to lead and create opportunities to educate young people appropriately to be able to work, contribute to and serve society in a global context.I endeavoured to innovate, create and lead teachers in designing a fully modern curriculum, appropriate for our students aiming for a knowledge based future of collaboration, creativity and digital literacy. A bridging curriculum, building on the inquiry based strengths of the primary school leads to a range of individualised pathways to IGCSE and the final IB.Student baseline data is used for school improvement. The students receive external examination projections , determined statistically from this baseline, and from this determine an aspirational minimum target grade (MTG). IGCSE and IBDP students are carefully monitored and tracked through their courses and progress towards this MTG is measured. Tutors hold 1:1 conversations with the students to help set targets for improvement and meetings with subject teachers help to set specific learning targets in order to achieve theiir goals using a growth (positive ) mind set. • Development of an alternative applied/vocational learning pathway for students with an applied learning style at post 16 level. My specific responsibilities at Sha Tin College include;- IB Coordinator - IB 5 year reviews (with great success)- CIS WASC accreditation and self-study- CAS week, a week where students participate in a range of challenging activities within Hong Kong but also includes overseas trips Europe, America, Asia and Australasia- Line management of Philosophy & religious studies and World languages, including Chinese - Applied learning (BTEC, ASDAN etc)- Student data use for school improvement- Year 9 and 11 options Show less
