  Play a key role managing the City of Cape Town’s coastline, driving collaborative and inclusive governance across multiple City departments, tiers of government and civil society; and formulating policy frameworks and strategies – applying the latest research, driving innovation, introducing new ideas, and establishing partnerships for a well-managed and resilient coastline. Held title of Coastal Coordinator, 2008 - 2017.Notes:★ Integrated Coastal Management Policy & Programme.Coordinated workshops, feedback sessions, public engagement to generate a shared vision for the coastline. Resulted in the adoption of the city's first Coastal Management Policy (2014) andCoastal Management Programme (2015). ★ Socio-institutional Responses to Coastal Risks in Urban Settings Developed and implemented unique risk mitigation and adaptation interventions within the City in response to escalating developmental and climate change related pressures. A ‘first’ in South Africa in developing a Coastal Management Line that has drawn in socio-economic considerations in reducing the City’s risk profile. ★ Collaborative Governance.Framing risk and vulnerability as a shared responsibility between the State and public sector. Facilitating the establishment of forums for enabling deliberation and knowledge co-production in responding to coastal hazards and risks.★ Coastal Monitoring Programme.Track and monitor biophysical and environmental dynamics (beach profiles, shoreline regression, storm surges, dune and estuary migration etc. to improve City decision making.★ Dune and Beach Maintenance Management PlanDevelopment of Cape Town's Dune and Beach Maintenance Management Plan to facilitate best practice in the management of the City's sensitive and dynamic coastal environment.
