- Spent 8 months conducting ethnographic action-research with Pollinate Group (PG), a social enterprise in Bangalore researching women’s participation in economic development activities, specifically in the field of clean-energy technology and entrepreneurship- Interviewed 65 women energy entrepreneurs in informal settlements across India with IRB approval to understand women's empowerment through entrepreneurship and clean energy access- Provided an action plan for PG to enhance agency of women energy entrepreneurs providing insight on how to more fully integrate women into entrepreneurial activities through ethnographic field research- Was sent home abruptly due to COVID-19 but spent months writing a manuscript of creative nonfiction stories about the women energy entrepreneurs I worked with, weaving together research findings and lessons. A few of these stories have been published.

Miller Center is at the forefront of the social entrepreneurship movement, with a track record of accelerating social enterprises to end global poverty since 2003. During my fellowship I worked with All Across Africa in Uganda and Rwanda. The Company: All Across Africa empowers women artisans economically by channeling their woven products to western markets and providing them with a reliable source of income. The Challenge: All Across Africa is seeking to scale its impact in Uganda by mitigating productivity challenges and improving operations at all levels by addressing internal and external problems. Method: Identified how the success of Rwanda’s weaving co-ops can be reproduced in women's weaving groups in Uganda, by interviewing 39 artisans, 16 co-op leaders, and 1 government official in Rwanda and Uganda to understand the local factors that drive success. Results: We found that the most important aspects of co-op success are a formalized leadership structure, accessible financial services, and opportunities for capacity-building.Impact: Created a deliverable and roadmap for scaling and provided check-lists for staff to implement scaling strategies successfully.
