Fall 2018 - Visual Foundations of HCI: This graduate course helped to build knowledge and skills in the visual materials used for interaction design and UX design. I provided students with lessons in Sketch, Invision, and the Adobe Suite. I also provided critique on their final deliverables. Fall 2018 - Interaction Design Practice: This graduate course introduces students to design thinking and working collaboratively in teams on design challenges. I served as a mentor, which required meeting with teams to critique design decisions, help navigate teamwork issues, and provide project management advice. Spring 2017 - Social Informatics: This undergraduate course aimed to teach students about the mutual shaping of technology and society. My responsibility was to lead hour long discussions with two groups of 20 students. To facilitate our weekly conversations, I created slide decks that showed how various theories related to current events, products, and services. Fall 2017 - The Information Society: This undergraduate course explored the ways in which Western industrialized societies, over the course of the previous two centuries, came to see information as a crucial commercial, scientific, organizational, political, and commercial asset. I answered students' questions and graded assignments. During summer 2017, I chose to return to this wonderful research lab, and was thrilled when they allowed me back. They had just received a $3 million grant to help form a new science of learning that combines machine learning, neuroscience, and human learning. My role for the summer was to collaborate with a computer vision expert and a developmental psychologist to explore how infants develop the skill of recognizing objects.

At the CogDev Lab, we study how babies learn. This place changed my life in so many ways, I'm forever grateful for the time I spent there. Working alongside world-class researchers taught me about teamwork and professional habits. I witnessed how a creative, successful culture is maintained. I discovered the thrill of investigating the unknown. But most importantly, I gained a whole new perspective on what it means to be human.

For two summers during college, I was extremely fortunate to work (have fun) as a Zip Line Tour Guide. Our responsibility was to keep everyone safe, but our goal was to give them a memorable experience with their friends/families. I had amazing mentors who taught me how quickly connect with people during our couple of hours together out in the woods. All of those days chatting up strangers now translates into how I interact with research participants.
