Bio
Allan McDougall, MA, PhD
Mindful, bright, kind, studious and patient are five words that describe Stella. She will make an outstanding asset to any team (although I pray she stays with us forever!) Not only is Stella a clinician with a quantitative research background in audiology, she is fast becoming our local expert in qualitative research. Further, she is a fantastic talent at web development and visual design. Stella has the admirable characteristic of building up those around her. By way of analogy, she recently proposed nominating our research centre’s director for a teaching and mentorship award. The nomination process was a lot of work, and Stella was already busy working on her own research program while applying for an upcoming grant. But as someone who sees the universal value of helping those around her, Stella worked extremely hard to coordinate the award nomination process and to acquire support from local faculty. A boon to our local community, Stella’s award nomination was a success! And this is just one of many examples I could cite demonstrating her selfless approach to work and life. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her and, wherever life takes us, I hope we will get to work together again.

Stella has been a knowledgeable and caring member of the Hearing Resource Program. She provided outstanding care for students with hearing loss and always advocated for the highest standards of support. She has a high standard of clinical practice which is firmly rooted in evidence-based research. Additionally, she is caring and supportive of other team members - on a personal and professional level. I count myself privileged to have worked with her.
