Sean is a skilled and creative professional. He has a commitment to leadership development, restorative practices and being a holistic educator in every role he takes on. Sean is highly organized with a strong work ethic, and builds strong, inclusive communities in and out of the classroom.

Katie Cates, EdM

Sean is the reason I chose to pursue a career in student affairs; he served not only as a mentor, but also an inspiration to me in my last couple of years as an undergraduate at USD. It all started when he took a gamble and hired me--a former athlete with no other real experience to speak of--as an RA for my junior and senior years. Under Sean's leadership, I quickly discovered my passion for mentoring undergraduate students who are working through their academic, career, and identity development. Sean's encouragement helped me through many "Ah-ha!" moments of my own as I navigated potential future career paths, and it was his mentorship that helped me land in student affairs. As a new professional in student housing and judicial affairs, I found myself emulating Sean's calm demeanor, restorative educational approach, and leadership-based decision making style. His advancement since his role as a Resident Director is a testament not only to his professional drive to contribute to college students' successes, but also to the outstanding impact he has had on his students and colleagues.
