Yen (Jessica) Lam
Xhona and I worked alongside each other leading a team of 15 executives and 30+ ambassadors to host workshops, annual conferences and events all year round to help incoming high school students transition into University. As a group, we acted as mentors by providing accessible resources for every student to ease the overwhelming stresses they had as first year students. Throughout our time working together, Xhona set a very strong example of leadership, organization, teamwork and integrity. This allowed us to successfully host our annual conference of 100+ students which made a huge difference in the university’s student life and experience. It was impressive to see how great Xhona’s communication skills were as she was the main speaker at our events, resulting in her gaining a lot of recognition across other groups that scouted her to their executive teams. In addition to our successful events, Xhona and I launched many branding and marketing initiatives that brought in recognition across different schools across Ontario. Xhona is a very knowledgeable and hard working leader. For whichever teams she joins, they would be extremely lucky to have her.

Xhona was an amazing addition to our team. Our Career Centre is one of the fastest growing and Xhona truly had her work cut out for her, supporting one of the busiest and demanding teams in TRSM. From the very beginning, she had great communication skills and regularly joined our introductory/pitch calls. She was never too shy or afraid to speak up and always felt comfortable giving her opinion - something that many people appreciated - both internally and externally. She was always committed to her tasks and very deadline driven. She worked on our team for 3 work terms, or 12 months, and in this time, her responsibilities grew as much as her development. By her third work term, she was taking on more complex tasks as well as providing oversight on our other co-op student. Overall, she was a pleasure to have on the team and I'm excited to witness her journey!
