In addition, I mentored 29 researchers during the development of water-based projects by evaluating their experimental data. Some key projects are described below: - Created a decision-making process for selecting the finest sustainable soil amendment (e.g. iron filings, biochar, fly ash) to treat stormwater, making water systems more reliable and cost-efficient - Built statistical models to predict the removal of pathogens from stormwater – the model was utilized by the engineers at Wenck (now part of Stantec) to decide which biochar their client should acquire for their project - Served as a private consultant to the CEO and Director of a Hotel Investment Group, created a report on how to clean their spa’s mud therapy material, and advised how to treat and utilize groundwater for irrigation - Pioneered the development of compacted stormwater biofilters in a $1 million Caltrans-sponsored project which aims to turn the Nation’s highway system into stormwater treatment systems and recharge groundwater levels - Constructed ArcGIS-based maps to investigate how stormwater systems retain TiO2–engineered nanoparticles Show less
