Stuart Watkins

Simon and I worked closely. I found Simon a great boss to work for and a great friend since we have worked together. Technically he is very competent and is very much a people person when it comes to management style. I would recommend Simon highly, he is very business aware and could turn his hand to just about anything.

Offering my assistance to the wonderful One Mind Mindfulness team in their mission to spread a culture of mindfulness throughout Primary schools across the UK - even the globe! The amazing One Mind Mindfulness online course gives children the opportunity to flourish and truly be the best versions of themselves; self-reliant, strong and confident, able to cope with difficult situations and make decisions that positively affect their lives and the lives of the people close to them. One Mind is such a fantastic project, made by an unbelievably talented and driven team, which gets brilliant feedback from teachers and kids for whom it really makes a difference. I’m very happy to offer my assistance, such as it is!

    • Chief Executive
      • May 2009 - Present

I founded this association in 2009 to provide public liability insurance and representation. As chief executive I represent UK drone and RC model fliers (whether they fly by FPV or not) in matters relating to airlaw, regulation, safety, etc. For example: I strongly opposed changes to the Air Navigation Order in 2009 through Parliament and ultimately negotiated a General Exemption from the new onerous parts of the ANO for FPV pilots when flying aircraft under 1.8kg and for recreational purposes. This exemption has been renewed every year since.

Sold the first quadcopter (drone) kit in the UK in January 2010. Was the largest UK importer of the most successful brand - DJI - which has over 70% of the drone market. Was also the largest importer of other top brands such as Fat Shark, ImmersionRC, FlySight and others. Drone Doctor is DJI's Recommended Repair Centre for the UK. We have repaired more than 10,000 drones, usually in fewer than 3 working days. We pride ourselves in having customer service which is second to none. All messages are replied to within minutes, new jobs are scanned into our system and our customers are notified within a handful of minutes of the item arriving, we update our customers at every step of the way, and our customers really value this level of service. We have strategic partnerships in place with several insurance companies to repair customer's drones quickly and efficiently and get them back to their owners and we also partner with drone retailers to offer our services to their customers as a really good alternative to a return. These retailers (and distributors) find that our service reduces their returns rate. We also provide drone servicing and repairs to some major organisations such as the BBC, Aljazeera, Sky News, Sussex Police, Surrey Police, Derbyshire Police, West Mercia Police, Warwickshire Police, British Transport Police, Devon and Cornwall Police, Dorset Police, AAIB, RAIB, MilAAIB, and many others. www.dronedoctor.co.uk
