Accepted into the Keck Geology Consortium to research and complete a thesis on the risk of a tectonic event on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Specifically analyzed deformation of Late Pleistocene sediment deposited roughly 15,000 years ago during the deglaciation of the last ice age as a proxy for evaluating modern-day risk. Summer 2016 • Studied scientific literature on the structural geology, tectonics, deposition, and glacial history of the region prior to departure for field… Show more Accepted into the Keck Geology Consortium to research and complete a thesis on the risk of a tectonic event on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Summer 2016 • Studied scientific literature on the structural geology, tectonics, deposition, and glacial history of the region prior to departure for field work • Conducted extensive field work collecting stratigraphic data and analyzed faulting over the course of 4 weeks August 2016 - April 2017 • Analyzed data using structural geology software, and created 25+ data visualizations through additional geology software, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. • Synthesized analysis and conclusions in a thesis written during my last two semesters of college while working part-time. Conclusions supported glacial deformation was responsible for observed faulting, and led to the discovery and naming of a paleo-lake, Lake Pacheedaht. • Delivered presentations at 2 professional Geology conferences, and to department faculty and students Show less Accepted into the Keck Geology Consortium to research and complete a thesis on the risk of a tectonic event on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
