Serve as the head academic leader at Uplift North Hills Preparatory Upper School, one of only 225 IB continuum schools worldwide and one of only 66 such schools in all of North, Central, and South America. Develop and support the policies, procedures, and systems necessary to maintain a healthy school environment and expand access to rigorous academic programs. Provide leadership for long-term and short-term planning, including the development and implementation of a 3-year strategic plan based on growing teacher leaders, refining instructional practices, and building relationships with stakeholders. Conduct the performance appraisal of 45 direct reports, including the setting of professional and developmental goals and conducting mid-year and end-of-year reviews. Conduct monthly classroom observations and provide actionable feedback to teachers in one-on-one observation debriefs. Plan and deliver targeted staff development on such topics as unit planning, assessment, and questioning strategies. Mentor and develop Deans (Assistant Principals) to support teachers and students. Lead staff recruitment and termination. Create and manage school budget and enrichment funds. Serve as liaison between the school and the community to build mutually beneficial partnerships. In 2017, Uplift North Hills High School was rated a Gold Medal School by US News and World Report, one of the top 500 best high schools in the country by Newsweek, and the #15 Most Challenging High School in America by the Washington Post, putting the school in the top 1% of US High Schools. In 2016, 64% of our senior class pursued the full IB Diploma, and 84% of these candidates earned their IB Diploma. The worldwide average was 79%, while the Texas average was 67%.
