Sought out in 2013 by the director at Ana G. Méndez University's Center for Sustainable Development Studies (i.e., CEDES) to design a newly-offered community extension program focusing on visual astronomy that would lead to an 8-unit, 100-hour university certificate. The plan was accepted and the resulting one-year program, now the flagship educational offering at CEDES, has been offered continuously since its launch in 2014 with a cumulative enrollment of well over 500 students, enjoying extensive coverage by the press and in social media. Currently working as the lead instructor of astronomy at CEDES, teaching four core units (12 to 16 contact hours each) plus four elective units, with occasional classes taught at the Arecibo Observatory. Student evaluations over a seven-year period consistently surpass 4.7 on a 5-point scale. Seeking ways to further develop the program, hosted book presentation events in 2019, 2018, 2016 (twice) and 2015; additionally, arranged special visits by science educators from the US mainland in 2018 and 2014, and went on to deliver a public Astronomy Day event in 2018.
