    • Director, Turkish Language Program

    • Chair, Council on Language Instruction
      • Sep 2020 - Present

As chair, I report directly to the Dean and communicate with various units across campus. I allocate the Council’s annual budget for professional development events, funding for faculty projects and research, and the CLI teaching award. I organize the annual Fall Orientation with leading language pedagogues in the field as guest speakers and the quarterly workshops where our language faculty share their research with the wider community. I chair quarterly business meetings and as ex-officio member of all CLI subcommittees, I work closely with our faculty and contribute to their work.Officially created in 1995, the CLI is composed of representatives from eight foreign language departments and programs, the English Language Programs (Programs for English Language Learners), and the Media and Design Studio. The CLI has a working membership of around 60 faculty members who represent the 19 languages taught at Northwestern University. The Council supports language faculty as they pursue excellence in language instruction and curriculum development and prepare Northwestern students to engage with the world as global citizens.
