I had the pleasure of working with Tharun during his time at Baylor College of Medicine. He is an expert in all things mass spectrometry and has a very in-depth understanding of the intricacies of the technology. I find him to be a highly efficient, thorough, and focused worker. He also has a clear vision of his career goals and the drive and capability to see them through. He has the potential to reach great heights and I wish him the best for his future endeavors.

I had the pleasure working with Tharun for three months at the Baylor College of Medicine during his internship. I rarely come across real talents who stand out like Tharun. He has the ability of multitasking and efficiency. He is easygoing, well-mingled team player with great communication skills. As a good team member, Tharun earns my highest recommendation.

Baylor College of Medicine is a private stand-alone health sciences university within the Texas Medical Center (the world's largest medical center), and is one of the top 25 medical schools in the country. Worked as a NIH funded postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Arun Sreekumar in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Key Contributions as a Chemist: • Worked on the development of a plasma based metabolomic biomarker panel for the early stage diagnosis of prostate cancer using mass spectrometry (QQQ LC-MS/MS). Also, worked on installing and operating an Opentrons automation platform and used it to validate the assay developed for the biomarker panel. • Developed a first-in-field MSI technique combining AP-MALDI ion source with a QQQ-MS/MS to evaluate the spatial distributions of several metabolites in fresh-frozen and FFPE tissues in a targeted manner. • Specialized in the development of LC-MS/MS methods for the determination and quantitation of different metabolites like amino acids, sugars, fatty acids-related to the glycolysis, pentose phosphate, and TCA (citric acid cycle) pathways, and also including bile acids, lipids, steroids in complex biological matrices such as plasma, serum, urine, tissues, cell lines, feces. • Hands on experience with mass spectrometry based invivo and invitro metabolomic flux analysis with different 13-C labeled energy sources (such as glucose). • Proficient in bioanalytical assay preparation and hands on experience in quantifying absolute concentrations of metabolites by Biocrates p180 kit using QTRAP 6500 LC/MS/MS system. • Collaborated with a team of PhD molecular biologists and other postdocs for several projects, • Gained strong ability to prioritize responsibilities, multi-task, and remain flexible and be motivated to work in a fast paced environment.

I have served in various teaching roles at UT-Arlington since beginning graduate studies in 2015 and simultaneously did research in the laboratory. I have managed both of them equally well. I have organized, taught and conducted laboratory classes for general chemistry labs, which include teaching 2 sections of 25 students per semester and holding regular office hours, both required and voluntary. I have also served as a TA for organic chemistry lab for 2 sections of 18 students per semester, along with holding regular office hours, both required and voluntary. During the period as a teaching assistant, I have also involved in weekly discussion sessions with lab coordinator, writing and grading quizzes, and proctoring and grading exams.
