Rigard is a great strategic technical leader, able and willing to get his hands into whatever needs doing but capable of setting the long term view. He's a valuable asset to any company working in a volatile environments where defining a clear path with imperfect knowledge is needed.

During my time at ACNE, Rigard was a great pleasure to work with. Rigard is a calm energy in the midst of what can at times be a chaotic agency environment. He is always willing to take the time to explain and discuss processes and educate fellow colleagues. For me, this proved to be invaluable. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable in his field and is always enthusiastic to share his trove of information. Rigard is also a passionate individual and pours a lot of love and care into his work. He enjoys what he does. I have come to realize that this is a rare trait in people within our industry who learn to simply pump out project after project, caring solely about bare minimum output. He is meticulous and pays a lot of attention to detail. Not only is Rigard all of the above, but he is truly a fun person to work with. He handles stress impeccably and makes difficult situations bearable, sometimes even enjoyable. There is no doubt in my mind that Rigard would be an asset to your project or company. He is patient, works hard and has fun doing it. Truly a joy to work with.

My role at ACNE as Technical Director not only included overseeing all the technical direction of our projects, the management of the technical team, and the company's IT needs, but also direct and continuous involvement in creative direction, business strategy, client-facing roles, and sales.During my time at ACNE, I was responsible for the successful execution of work across various markets including Germany, Switzerland, Spain and the UK, with clients across Europe as well as the US. Our team completed work online and offline, campaign work, maintenance work and e-commerce development.Online work covered the full-stack, with backends in PHP and NodeJS and server architectures on proprietary, Rackspace and AWS infrastructures. Physical digital work comprised of executions in AIR, VVVV and Processing, as well as a multitude of productions utilising Arduino, Raspberry PIs, Kinects and various components. As Technical Director, I had constant engagement with clients and agencies and day to day involvement in the running of the business.

At iKineo, I was responsible for establishing a non-existent technical development infrastructure. This involved setting up structures, environments and establishing conventions for all development, determining the structure and approach to all technical related aspects of project delivery, participating in creative conceptual development, feasibility checks, and team leadership.During this time, we developed the award-winning Immersive Retail campaign for Loom (http://www.immersiveretail.co.za), which brought together a wide range of technologies: Web, Mobile, E-Commerce (Shopify), Flash, PHP, NodeJS, Arduino, Raspberry PIs, RFID, NFC etc.

My role at Pixel Project spanned a number of areas, focusing mainly on tech research and development, in a large part exploring use of the XBox Kinect 3D camera technology using various libraries such as the Java based Processing, the C++ based Cinder, as well as incorporating the Kinect data into the Unity3D environment, using C# and JavaScript. Additionally, much work revolved around the touch-surface solutions offered to clients by Pixel Project, using AIR, as well as assessing other libraries' touch-surface feasibility, such as PoCode. When required, Arduino prototypes were created as proof of concepts for potential work.

Whilst at Stonewall (subsequently Native, after it merged with Cambrient and Brandsh), I established the Interactive Development department and headed this up by managing the team, its processes and projects. Included in this role were various responsibilities such as scheduling, planning, recruitment, quoting, budgeting, direct client interactions, and creative processes such as brainstorming, think-tanks, idea-generation, and business development. I oversaw the running of all projects related to the department which included a variety of front-end development technologies and tools such as, among others, Flash, Flex, AIR, advanced HTML/JavaScript, mobile development, creative coding, Facebook and other 3rd party integrations.Additionally, I played a role in the skills development of the team as well as others in the company, and delivered regular presentations on technology trends and topics of interest.
