To whom it may concern: I am pleased to have this opportunity to write a letter of recommendation in support of Dr. Yavuz Cakir. I have known Dr. Cakir for approximately three years and admire him for his tenacity in trying to assure a quality education for his students. Dr. Cakir will essentially go to any extreme to try to insure that his students learn the material that is being covered. If the students can’t understand, Dr. Cakir will relentlessly provide differing perspectives until the majority do understand, and he will then invite the remaining confused students to his office for further explanation. Dr. Cakir is a strong advocate for the students and has an open-door policy to his office. In other words, the students can freely approach him at any time he is in his office, whether they are seeking advice on academic affairs, personal affairs, or concerns related to application and entrance into graduate or professional schools. Unfortunately, Dr. Cakir is probably in the minority in this respect. In my experience many faculty apparently do not care about the success of their students . . . Dr. Cakir is one of the exceptions. I am sure that you are probably already aware of Dr. Cakir’s academic achievements, but I will mention some of them myself. Dr. Cakir received his DVM (Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine) from the University of Ankara, Turkey, in 1993, and went on to receive his MS (specializing in physiology and pharmacology) in 1997 and PhD (specializing in comparative and experimental medicine) in 2001. So, as you can see, Dr. Cakir’s interests revolve around medicine. In short, I believe that Dr. Cakir has very strong character, morals, and leadership qualities, and the personality, intelligence, and level of motivation to succeed at whatever he pursues. I have no hesitation about recommending Dr. Cakir to your organization.
