  Initially employed as a Student Associate Practitioner and completed an extended placement within the Psychiatric Assessment Unit at Basildon Hospital as part of Foundation Degree programme at Anglia Ruskin University. Key functions have included coordinating observation and client allocation to various staff members, overseeing physical health care monitoring and assessment, risk assessment and care planning, including Mental Health Act auditing. Involves responsibility for leading a shift team of 5 staff, handling all aspects of line management including assigning tasks to team members and providing operational support and guidance as required. Responsible for monitoring staff performance and conducting regular appraisals as well as delivering training and completing NVQ assessments. Also includes handling extensive liaison with other healthcare professionals, external agencies (such as Social Services) and patient families to enable the development of individual care plans as well as participating in service development initiatives.
