    • Undergraduate Student Researcher - Breast Cancer Detection
      • Apr 2015 - May 2016

Assist head of mechanical and electrical engineering departments in their research to find an alternative method to detecting breast cancer. My work includes competency in using camera and robotic systems for collection of data. I document all processes and help in redesign of the collection process to increase accuracy in our testing. I run analyses on the 128 different images collected per sample to a) clean the data so that images all share a common origin, b) fit points of collected data to spheroid to remove unwanted data (image of ground - none-sample points), and c) identify the location of each indentation. I developed the computational procedures for identifying indentation locations from large 3D data clouds of partial cylinders and spheres. From the cloud of points, a cylinder will give a central axis to represent the rod on which it sat and from that axis, the angle of indentation may be determined as well as the location on the sample where the projected axis intersects the fitted spheroid.

    • Sophomore Resident Tutor
      • Sep 2014 - May 2015

Tutor students in sophomore level curriculum from my room. Requires that I have and maintain an understanding of the sophomore courses that are required of my major (Mechanical Engineering) as well as the ability to teach the material to fellow students. My room is always open to anyone who may need help, but the job requires that I tutor in a classroom located within the dorm for 3 hours for 13 nights each quarter as well as have 3 mandatory in-room hours each week. The goal of my position is to help students in what will be the most difficult year of their education here at Rose-Hulman as far as curriculum goes. The reason this position exists is because sophomore curriculum here for most majors is the most difficult because of the adjustment to actual engineering classes. Being located down the hall from students experiencing trouble in their courses, I am the first line of defense to keep them from failing and to help them develop necessary work habits to solve future problems on their own.

    • Rose-Hulman Accelerated Math Physics Counselor
      • Jul 2014 - Sep 2014

Rose-Hulman Accelerated Math Physics is a 5-week program for incoming freshman covering Calculus III, Physics I & II, and lab material. Having successfully completed the program, I returned as a counselor to score student homework assignments, mentor students regarding formatting and mathematical/physical methodology, prepare laboratories, reside with students as a Resident Assistant, and assist professors in other necessary duties.

Helped organize events for the orchestra and got sponsors for the season's orchestra retreat. During the rehearsals, I played along side the students to help them learn the music. I also lead and directed an ensemble on my own who performed at the orchestra concert at the end of the end of the season. Gave half-hour to hour long classes to both middle and high school orchestra students. Focus of lessons were to improve technical skills dealing with bow grip and overall posture of both the left hand and body. Used the Suzuki method primarily along with two octave major and minor scales (depending on the skill level of the student) to enhance intonation and rhythm accuracy.
