Tom was my director for a short film that I produced called Coming Up For Air. He is a superb director with a broad range of skills making him a valuable asset to the production. Tom is proactive and is always on top of the tasks at hand, reducing the stress of my role considerably. He is an excellent communicator and I couldn't recommend him highly enough, I know this boy will be successful in whatever path his career takes him.

I worked with Tom on a music video last year, he was an amazing director who knew exactly what he wanted and how to achieve his goals. He is a wiz with a camera and was very well respected among the cast and crew. Would definitely recommend him for any future projects.

Tom and I have worked closely in numerous amounts of productions. He is extremely passionate about the projects that he is working on and likes to thoroughly involve himself into the pre-production. On set he is great with communicator and has a good knowledge of the technology skills.

As a freelance filmmaker/photographer, working under the banner of TomBurrowsMedia I have had the fortune to gain valuable experience working with and for major brands/institutions. Having honed my photography and videography skills over the past 5 years after seriously investing in the then hobby, now profession. My diligence in creating stunning content is a vital part of my business model. However, the ability to perform under pressure and be quick-thinking when necessary is a value I pride myself on. This role normally requires nightclub photography where the requirement to work efficiently and quickly is necessary in an environment that is constantly changing. The skill to stay hidden in this environment while moving around protecting one's equipment is important. But more importantly is the ability to interact with people and ask to take their picture, something which feels inherently wrong but that I've grown to enjoy. However I am sometimes given other briefs, such as creating food photography for a bar/restaurant in Oxford. This job allowed me to show some creativity as the brief was wide and the client had no concrete demands for how they wanted the photos to look. However a lack of light in the location provided proved a challenge. Luckily I had my own light with me as a backup. This showed me the importance of my new equipment and preparing for every eventuality, even if the provided information does not require certain kit. Show less

Product Photographer for a range of tea products, created for a digital marketing campaign. This product shoot was centred around the prospect of heavy editing in post. This allowed me to develop my Photoshop skills in: background removal/transformation, lighting alteration, and drop shadows. These techniques were used to create a personalised background to each individual product, and create the belief that each product was shot on a different backdrop. This also helped me develop my studio technique and 3 point lighting when the conditions are not ideal. I hope to use these skills in another shoot soon. Show less

Photographer and Behind the Scenes videographer for “Belong to the Streets” by Ramz and "Issues" by Nana Rogues feat. Ms Banks. The one-man-band approach to BTS tested my abilities behind the camera. As every aspect of a shot had to be manipulated by myself, this challenge helped me understand other aspects of filmmaking. Across these two, similar shoots. The ability to appear everywhere at the same time was vital to ensure I didn't miss something important. The need for bottomless energy throughout the shoot days was therefore an important factor in delivering great content to the client. The shoots also showed me the issues (ironic) with my then current kit. The D500's lack of a full frame sensor, or any serious colourspace information means that the final image does not have the quality to it that a filmmaking camera requires. This led me to reinvest in a Sony A7iii. With a mirrorless, full frame sensor and the ability to shoot in S-Log, the final shots that come out are more flexible in post and are far more 'cinematic'. I have loved using this new kit so far. Show less

Photographer and Behind the Scenes Videographer for Amazon Advertising and Cadbury’s short film, ‘All in Goo Time’. Having the opportunity to work on set alongside other creatives was a brilliant step into the industry I want to go into. The ability to stay focused for two, 14-hour shoots was vital in ensuring the content quality did not slip as the day went on. Shadowing the director, Neil Coxhill, also provided great insight into one of the most remanding roles in the industry, and a role which I hope to excel in. I was able to practice my skills in file management as throughout the day I was exporting content to hard-drives in an organised manner, meaning the editing process was simplified. The importance of networking was shown on this job as my contact with a Producer led me to other work in the following months. Show less

Photographer for advertising campaign & website build. Working with primarily children on these shoots meant that I had to go about taking their photos in a slightly different way. The need to smile and show that one can be trusted was vital in capturing a smile when they came about. Running around, chasing bikes tested my ability to perform while tired and was a welcome challenge! I delivered the edited photos in a quick turn-around, allowing the client to upload as soon as they were able. Photographer for advertising campaign & website build. Photographer for the annual, Crumbs Food awards. This contract allowed me to experience shooting a large event for the first time. This was a thrilling challenge and provided a great insight into the world of commissioned photography. Using a Nikon D500 meant I could use the high frame rate to capture multiple images to ensure the moment was captured. From this I learnt how to move around in a space without causing interference to guests/paying members, something which has come in very useful at Spires Productions LTD. Show less
