- Utilized 800 off-duty hours to ensure navigational requirements for two ships were completed simultaneously after the events of September 11, 2001, to support homeland security deployment. Both ships were mission-ready weeks ahead of schedule and deployed on time.

- Planned and executed a safe navigation voyage halfway around the world without incident. Supervised, mentored, and provided career counseling for 30 junior personnel. All personnel returned to homeport qualified commensurate to their rank.- Ship’s crew provided humanitarian assistance to the sinking container ship (listing over 30 degrees). All crew members survived, and the ship/cargo was saved.
