Bio
Will McDowell Ed.D.
Few people have had the level of impact on my educational career in the ways that Dr. Crystal Ward has. We have worked together in three different organizations and went through the journey of earning our doctoral degrees together. Dr. Ward is authentic in her desire to serve young people that start furthest from opportunity. With her balance of supporting both adults and children she holds high expectations, yet is able to do it from a place of love. She will push for equitable outcomes even at the expense of the negative judgement of others. Researcher George Theoharis defines a social justice leader to have a passionate visionary leadership, a tenacious commitment to justice, and an arrogant humility. Dr Ward is a social justice leader in the most positive ways that change the trajectories of the young people she aims to serve. Her ability to network while bringing people together is unparalleled. Anytime I have a chance to work in partnership with Dr. Ward, I jump at the chance. I suggest you do as well.

Crystal Ward has shown herself to be competent, professional and an enthusiastic advocate for creating community change and impacting the lives of girls. I first had the privilege of working with Ms. Ward as a Board Member with R.U.B.I.E.S., Inc. During her tenure she lead the city-wide girls conference, volunteered for special events, assisted with projects and programming that impacted the lives of high school and first generations college students. As a volunteer, Ms. Ward has high expectations of herself and encourages others to obtain a similar mindset early in life. Throughout each interaction with Ms. Ward, I have been thoroughly impressed with her maturity, willingness to lead, and support. Her skill sets are not only evident in her volunteerism, but also in her professional career and church.
