When I work with Ben my statistics knowledge grows by leaps and bounds. In addition, his SoundPoints program will definitely change how acoustic data are analyzed. From birds to dolphins, the potential ramifications of this objective acoustic measurement tool are staggering.

My position at Parkside helped me maintain collaborations with animal communication specialists worldwide. I led the acoustic analysis portions of research on creatures such as songbirds, parrots, and dolphins. The lively entrepreneurial community in southeastern WI also helped me as I developed commercial applications of my research.

Golondrinas de las Americas is a hemisphere-wide research collaboration focused on understanding the ecology of cavity-nesting swallows (genus Tachycineta). I co-led a team of two Argentines and two US ornithologists as we established a research station in the flood plain of the Parana River. I mentored Argentine and US ornithologists in field methods, and met with Argentine conservationists and scientists to help build the Golondrinas network in north-central Argentina. My team lived in a million-plus size city (Santa Fe), speaking only Spanish, and worked in an active cattle ranch on an island in the river. Show less
