Bio
Dillon Gorsen
I have worked with Ron for the last 9 months at Amazon Web Services. This is my first job after graduating college, and the learning curve has been tremendous. Ron has always been extremely helpful whenever I have questions, and he always takes the time to throughly divulge his knowledge to me in an easy to digest manner. Even when he doesn’t know the answer off the top of his head, he points me in the right direction to where I can find it. He has taught me a lot about both AWS and generic software development best practices, and always provides helpful critiques to our team’s development processes. He introduced swimlanes into our development planning process which is directly correlated to a 52% improvement in velocity in the four sprints following, in comparison to the four sprints prior. Ron is always up for taking on challenging projects - owning and developing core software components with as much or little help as he is given. His knowledge of ruby and the ruby on rails framework are unparalleled on our team, and he is extremely talented at designing easy-to-use and aesthetically pleasing UX. With that said, his frontend development prowess takes nothing away from his backend development experience. He produces efficient and maintainable code anywhere and everywhere in our tech stack. Above all, he is a pleasure to be around, always joking around and lightening the mood when things get stressful. I look up to him as a developer, and appreciate the hard work he has put in to our team, as well as my own development. He will surely be missed at AWS.
