Shadowing Doctors
-
May 2013 - Aug 2014
Over the course of five months I had the chance to shadow two different teams of pathologists and Internists. There, I examined some of their patients and attended to the diagnosis of their problems and the appropriate implementation of treatment. Further, I observe multiple open heart and conventional laparoscopic surgeries such as Mitral valve replacement and minimally invasive Aortic valve replacement. In addition, I attended the diagnostic and treatment work-up in the Emergency Room as well as a few robotic (Da Vinci Surgical System) and cosmetic surgeries.

Gathered signatures from passionate and curious individuals, prepared a proposal and presented it before the school board. Once a week a group of students would meet with a computer engineer and we would discuss topics that were interesting to us but beyond the school's curriculum such as relativity, the string theory and the visualization of multiple dimensions.
