Working on a Functional-style Java 8/RXJava/Kotlin Spring Boot REST JSON:API microservice which underpins the web and native apps for Kingfisher’s operating companies. This service is the first point of interaction for the vast majority of API interactions from these frontends. SAFe agile processes followed, including pair programming, with Jira and Git used. Cucumber, Ruby and Sinatra used for integration testing and Behavour Driven Development. Gatling used for load testing. Contributed to architectural and design decisions in addition to writing code. Heavily involved with the infrastructure hosting and upholding the microservice, with experience working with Terraform, Groovy-based Jenkins, AWS Lambda, EC2, Elasticache/Redis and Gradle. A trusted and regular member of the on-call rota, handling 24-hour callouts to ensure the operation of Kingfisher’s operating company services ran smoothly and without fault. Show less

I undertook a year of industrial placement working for IBM in Hursley. I contributed good quality, usable code during my time and expanded what had been taught to me at University. I greatly developed my frontend abilities thanks to coding in Node.js, jQuery, and HTML. I undertook a year of industrial placement working for IBM in Hursley. Bartender

I worked at the Queen’s Head Inn for several years under numerous supervisors. I started at a young age as a Kitchen Assistant but eventually was promoted to front-of-house where I was trained and worked as a Waiter and Bartender. This field of work has allowed me to develop fantastic teamwork and people skills through working face to face with customers regularly and has taught me how to perform under pressure. IT Support Assistant

Mar 2011 - Mar 2011
I undertook work experience at LPA Industries in the IT department. Whilst there I helped run the servers, install new computers, programmed simple tasks assigned to me and helped out with any general IT issues that other employees had. This week gave me a real insight into what working as a computer scientist in a business with approximately 50 employees would be like. I spent two weeks shadowing web designers at Popcorn Web Design. Due to the nature of their work I was unable to be assigned tasks, but I did see the design process of websites and witnessed a lot of website design while picking up a few skills along the way. I would consider this work experience one of the key events in my life to make me follow the computer science path. I spent two weeks shadowing web designers at Popcorn Web Design.
