I got the opportunity of working with Geert at Worth Internet Systems for 1.5 years. We worked together on a couple of different projects and it was certainly an enjoyable experience. Geert is an incredibly smart developer with whom you can discuss any kind of issues and ideas, he will often impress you with his way of thinking and solutions he can come up with. He is a very skilled frontend developer, but is also at all times flexible and eager to learn new technologies even when they get him out of his comfort zone. Geert is an excellent team player with a good eye for both the tech and the business needs, always trying to find the best balance between those. We had countless productive and fun work sessions together and I would be pleased if our paths crossed again in the future.

In 2018 I left the Dept agency to take a sabbatical year. During this year I began the challenge of converting a cargo van into a tiny home on wheels and mobile office with absolute zero building experience. It was a ride with plenty of setbacks, but did finish the camper conversion in which I traveled together with my girlfriend. During this experience I not only learned a lot of new things about construction, plumbing and electrics. But was also challenged in perseverance, creative thinking and problem solving skills. At Dept I worked as a senior front-end developer. Here I worked on many websites using CSS/SASS JavaScript, AngularJS and later a lot of React which I really enjoyed. Usually in an agile/scrum environment with weekly or two-weekly deployments. I also helped to create a new front-end setup for within the front-end team. I spent about 9 months at a New10, a startup financed by ABN Amro. Here we developed an online platform where companies could apply for a loans up to 1 million euro. I also spent 6 months in Dublin (Ireland) at CarTrawler. Here I worked in a team where we developed a progressive web app. Users could download this app to their phone where they had access to information about their car reservation and would receive relevant push notifications. In 2013 I left MediaMonks looking for some new adventures. I traveled to Sydney on a Working Holiday Visa. From there I traveled along the south and east coast of Australia. Along the way I have done volunteer work, fruit picking and worked for four months on a cotton farm. In Brisbane I also did some freelance work as a Flash developer. At MediaMonks I worked as a Flash developer on games and (social) media campaigns. Here I worked on complex interaction designs and animations. Learned a great deal about OOP and coding patterns. During my time I also developed a Java plugin for the IDE that we used. This plugin could analyse and generate frequently used code blocks.
