Assessment of adults with primary progressive aphasia and children with dyslexia Rehabilitation of speech and language for adults with primary progressive aphasia in PPA treatment study (partnership with Aphasia Research and Treatment Lab at UT Austin) The ALBA Language Neurobiology Laboratory at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center is directed by Dr. Maria Luisa Gorno Tempini. We study how language is organized into brain networks across the lifespan. Our group researches how language skills and brain regions are impacted by neurological conditions and how they reorganize in response. Our multidisciplinary team correlates behavioral research with multimodal neuroimaging techniques to understand the neural underpinnings of higher cognitive functions such as speech, language and memory. In particular, our lab researches two syndromes: Primary Progressive Aphasia and Dyslexia. Show less

New America Media was founded in 1996 by the nonprofit Pacific News Service to further its mission of diversifying mainstream news media by expanding the visibility and viability of the ethnic news sector. NAM was dedicated to bringing the voices of immigrant and low-income communities, youth, and elders into the national discourse. The communities of the New America will be better informed, better connected to one another, and better able to influence policy makers. Show less
