Marcel is a great guy to work with. The most open mind and very emphatic. Marcel’s commitment to a cause, and to a task on hand is absolute. He trusts people, and those who you trust can’t let you down!

MainTrack is developing a suite of applications for the freight industry, including a web based multitenant cargo management application, an enterprise shipping tool, and a messaging middleware.I designed and developed an enterprise shipping solution that allows shippers to manage their shipments through a single integration. The functionalities include real-time rates, availability and shipping times, booking shipments and creating labels, and tracking and tracing packages. Forwarders and express couriers included are DHL Express, FedEx, UPS, Kuehne + Nagel, Panalpina and DAMCO. Shippers can interface with the enterprise shipping solution through multiple channels, including WCF, REST API, Service Bus, FTP and e-mail.We created a multitenant platform for managing an airline’s cargo. Functionalities include a centralized rating engine and integrated cargo revenue accounting. The functionalities are available through a web-based application with modern UI, and key functionalities (like track & trace) are also available on mobile apps. The system provides interfaces to import flight schedules, movement messages and reconcile payments. The application has been successfully implemented and is live at Philippine Airlines (PAL).We created an online application to allow airline cargo departments, forwarders, shippers, and customs to enter and exchange standard messages including airway bills and house way bills. The application interfaces through ARINC with the SITA network, but also receives and delivers messages through FTP and WCF compliant web services. Application has reduced the number of AWBs and HWBs with errors to a fraction of what it was and has reduced the SITA costs. Among others, I was responsible for setting up the Microsoft Azure environment and migration the web application and accompanying web services and SQL databases to the cloud. The system has been successfully implemented and is live at Philippine Airlines (PAL).

Responsible for business development in Brazil, I oversaw the design, build, and commercialization of several online travel solutions for the Brazilian market, combining multiple webservices for real-time content, payment gateways, and online marketing techniques, including an ancillary revenue product for several Brazilian airlines. For a start-up company, I coordinated the design, development, procurement and customer support for a multi-currency, multi-language travel service for booking flights, hotels, car rental, and restaurants. At the back-end the services are integrated with over 10 travel service brokers and several credit card providers. At the front-end the services are deployed through a website, apps for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7 and Blackberry and back-office for supporting customer care.

Architect and lead developer for APOC’s ERP platform. APOC is a company operating in the aircraft part-out market. The company was founded in 2014. APOC focusses on the acquisition of decommissioned aircrafts, the subsequent dismantling and reselling of the parts, the possible (re)certification and eventual overhaul. It is a young and dynamic company in the exciting aviation market, doing business around the globe. The company culture is informal, entrepreneurial and result orientated. The part-out market is a traditional spot market and is distinguished by a low degree of computerization and automation. APOC’s management recognized the opportunity to create a distinctive and profitable service via its own ERP software ‘Alicanto’. Alicanto’s current core functionalities include: Pricing components, repair assessment, real time stock management, project management. The existing solution uses CQRS and is in the process of being moved to the Microsoft’s Azure.

Implementing paperless trade for a major automotive customer of DHL Express. The automotive customer has integrated its parts ecommerce platform with DHL’s systems to allow for automated booking and tracking of its parcels. Extending this integration with paperless trade functionality by include customs invoices in the booking API, DHL will save on rerouting the parcels and manually handling them to scan and upload documentation. The automotive customer will be able to extend its order cut off time by several hours.

Architect and lead developer for the Paccar Parts Europe e-commerce platform. As an architect I oversaw the transformation to a N-tier application with multiple web and worker roles. Together with the migration to Azure, this has resulted in a robust scalable platform. Over the years more and more potential of Azure has been unlocked and I oversaw the inclusion of many different resource types. As a developer, I am integrating the ecommerce platform with interfaces to several forwarders or express couriers for the real-time availability of rates, creation of shipments and labels for the parts orders, and the tracking and tracing of the packages. To provide the platform with sophisticated marketing functionality, a data scientist and I are developing a suite of microservices to combine (big) data from different sources to present the DAF’s dealers with actionable opportunities, using a mix of C# and Python in Azure functions.

Sole developer of a MVC based e-commerce application for the parts business of DAF worldwide. The multi-language, multi-currency application was created from scratch drawing from over ten different sources (mainly through web services) catering five wide ranging use cases through a modern, dynamic, high performing UI. The application includes over twenty different interfaces connecting to the Dealer Management Systems outside DAF, and various internal services for product information, ordering, work packages, account information, pricing, and inventory.Paccar Parts Europe (the official name of the business unit) has pulled the developers out of the central Software Delivery Center who reside in a different building, to sit close to the business. In my case, the business people involved were just a few desks away. This allowed for frequent face-to-face meetings with the business and delivering new releases with incremental functionality at least twice a month.

Consultant to the board of directors. In the end of 2000 this airline came in financial distress. It needed re-capitalization and a sale of assets to be turned around. My activities included an assignment for the refinancing of three regional jet aircraft and advising on the capital increase, the acquisition of new activities in exchange of equity, and participation and shareholders agreements. As part of the Brazilian office in Sao Paulo was responsible for complex corporate finance structures, aviation related structures, and consulting products for the South American market. Before joining the Brazilian office, I spend one year in Argentina to build up a local network of clients and product portfolio. Activities included acquiring clients, understanding their needs for international structures, creating customized financial structures, coordination with third parties like law offices, tax consultants, and banks. I managed the sale of a UK broker / dealer company from its US parent to a Brazilian bank. A special project was conducted to assist a venture of Boston University with the tender process to acquire a contract in Europe for recently developed technology in the super conducting area, selecting a manufacturing partner, and the set-up of the joint venture for manufacturing the final assemblies (www.amicorp.com).
