On my quest to further expand my soft and hard skills, I took the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone, jump on an airplane and crash into the Venice of the North. Embraced by my lovely colleagues at Gresb, I had to quickly provide what the deadline-heavy environment required: agile, effective communication, convention over configuration and get-things-done mentality. Gresb’s legacy code was part of my everyday challenges, trying to do opportunistic refactorings, increase test coverage and optimally delete smelly unused code when possible. Starting my tech career as a Backend Engineer, I was responsible for maintaining and testing the core functionalities of the Rails application. Being part of a small team, I was motivated to grow fast into a reliable and independent engineer, learning as much as possible on the run from the team’s seniors.
